Education and Training
A core purpose of Wakas Demonstration Farms is to act as a learning center. It offers hands-on training, workshops, and field days for farmers, agricultural students, extension workers, and other stakeholders. Visitors can observe organic practices firsthand, ask questions, and gain practical skills in:
- Defining organic agriculture, its history, core principles (health, ecology, fairness, care), and evolution. Understanding the benefits of organic farming for soil, environment, and consumers.
- Learning about national and international organic standards (e.g., USDA Organic), the certification process, record-keeping requirements, and the importance of organic integrity.
- Understanding the differences in practices, inputs, and environmental impact between organic and conventional farming systems.
- Exploring how organic farming contributes to broader sustainable development goals, including biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and rural community development.
